Right, so I have written in the past about making dumb things, and how it is a positive thing to do and encouraged you to go out and make all the dumb things!
To show you that I practice what I preach, say hello to JüK, a new minimal, thoughtfully designed (I think!) front end for Apple Music. I have a love hate relationship with Apple Music. I love the audio quality and deep catalogue of tracks to enjoy, but using the app can be a pain in the ass.
It has many of the same issues that bug me about the Plex app, outlined over here, most notably the bloat that comes from the social crap that I DO NOT WANT.
I know some people really enjoy and benefit from that, but I don't and I want it gone. There are some serious design and usability issues with the app as well, which I have tried to address while building JüK, but the frustration that kicked it off was bloat.
I am in the final stages of the alpha v1, after which I will probably try to find beta testers and release it to them. This will be a free download, hopefully from the App Store. The Album View of JüK, featuring a more usable interface for accessing content for an album, as well as expanded metadata.
Lastly the Songs View of JüK, with a modal that shows the metadata for the song currently playing, accessed by clicking the thumbnail of the album artwork in the player.
