The Vice President

Aside from the obvious inaccuracies, shading and outright falsehoods that have been identified in the article, I find the central issue at hand, namely that the Vice President support Pro Choice politically, while privately holding that life is sacred and begins at conception, and this being somehow tantamount to apostasy, amusing. It is amusing for a number of reasons.

1. The people up in arms about this act as though they themselves do not hold any beliefs contrary to the teaching of their church, which is false, impossible and silly.
2. Most of these people fall into the age old heretical trap that some sins are worse than others in the eyes of God. This is false. All sin is equal in the eyes of God, because all sin, regardless of the size, subject matter or popularity severs us from His love, light and salvation.
3. Cry abortion is murder! So is taking a life in defense of our country. So is a police officer taking a life in the line of duty. Abortion is no more heinous a crime than any other form or murder that they so readily forgive, ignore or overlook.

Now don't get me wrong, I am not saying I condone abortion. I do believe that life begins at conception, for religious and scientific reasons. The moment that an egg is fertilized, there is a unique genetic signature that belongs to a new life. It is distinct from the mother, and as such should be considered new life. We go out of our way to classify bacteria as a valid form of life. The fact that we aren't rushing to do the same for the earliest distinct stage of existence for a human being is mind boggling. But I digress, this isn't a missive about abortion, right to choose or pro life. It is an article about hypocrisy, which unfortunately has been making the rounds in the news of late. From the Kentucky County Clerk who personally made a mockery of marriage, multiple times standing on the "sanctity of marriage" as a defense for not doing her job, to the idiots screaming "abortion is murder!" while cheering on the conquering, "God Blessed!" heroes of our armed forces, the news is ripe with "Christian Hypocrisy". It's all very amusing, and depressing.
